Manjrekar regrets on-air argument with Bhogle, says I was unprofessional

Sanjay Manjrekar has been in all the wrong news this year. Be it calling Jadeja, bits and pieces player or having an on air spat with Harsha Bhogle.

The former Indian cricketer was on the radar of all the trolls and backlash because of his ignorant behavior. This type of behavior by a senior broadcaster wasn”t totally acceptable.

Harsha Bhogle an experienced commentator who has been in the field for the last 3 decades has been the voice of Indian Cricket. Bhogle an alumnus of IIM-A was the first Indian to be invited by the Australian Broadcasting Corporation.

Manjrekar”s on air quarrel with Bhogle was during the historic Pink ball test against Bangladesh. The unhealthy argument on air spread like fire during Day 3 of the test match.

On a recent show the former India Player admitted that his behavior towards Harsha Bhogle was unprecedented and it was very unprofessional of him.

“With that particular comment, it was me losing control and I was unprofessional, I was wrong. It is something that I regret, it was wrong of me so that is what really bothers me that I let my emotions get the better of me. So mostly being unprofessional and to an extent indecent as well. First thing that I did was apologise to the producers because I was wrong.People who have read my book know that I have actually made a plea for production companies to have good commentators doesn’t matter whether they have played cricket or not,” said the former Indian cricketer in a video with Espncricinfo.

During the game Harsha Bhogle has politely asked for a postmortem to be done of the ball which would help the people understand about the visibility of the ball. Sanjay Manjrekar went against it and said there was no need of asking the question as there was no problem with the visibility of the ball as he had played International cricket.

The on-air daily soap drama came to a close after Manjrekar said” Point taken, Don”t Agree”. Manjrekar played 37 test matches for India during 1987 and 1996.
