Marcus Stoinis is uncertain for the next match after he picked a side strain in the first ODI against India. The all-rounder in the 7th over seemed in discomfort after bowling a delivery and immediately went off the field. Stoinis didn’t take any chances with his possible injury and didn’t take any further part in the game.
Marcus Stoinis Doubtful For The Next ODI
After failing with the bat, Stoinis was making amends with the ball as he kept a lid on the Indian scoring rate in the middle overs. It will be a great blow for Australia if Stoinis is unable to take part in the 2nd ODI which will be played on Sunday at Sydney.
Now, the all-rounder will undergo a scan which will further reveal whether Stoinis will feature in the next match or not. Due to a quick turnaround, it looks highly improbable that Stoinis will play as he can further exaggerate his potential injury.
Cameron Green Might Make His ODI Debut Against India
It is now believed that Western Australia all-rounder Cameron Green has been kept as a cover for Stoinis. The exciting 21-year-old was picked in the Test squad of Australia on the back of his impressive show in Sheffield Shield. Green is a handy cricketer with both bat and ball and will be an ideal replacement for Stoinis in the ODI series.
The youngster might make his debut for Australia in the second ODI match of the series. Earlier Aussie coach Justin Langer had asserted that he wanted Green to contribute more with the ball in order to be picked in the white ball squad.
Meanwhile, Green certainly has the potential to make a difference in the ODI squad if Stoinis is unable to recover. Another name going the rounds as a potential replacement for Stoinis is veteran all-rounder Moises Henriques. However at this point, Green certainly looks the front to feature in the Australia side in place of Marcus Stoinis.
