While it’s only mid-July, the buzz over the much-awaited India’s tour of Australia scheduled in December later this year is already quite palpable. With the fate of ICC T20 World Cup hanging by a thread, it’s safe to assume that the Border-Gavaskar Trophy will be the most anticipated international series post the COVID-19 lockdown that was enforced all over the world in mid-March.
In a recent interaction with the PTI, Marnus Labuschagne showered heaps of praise on Jasprit Bumrah for being the spearhead of the Indian pace attack. Incidentally, Bumrah finished as the highest wicket-taker for India in the last series. He returned with 21 wickets as Virat Kohli & Co recorded their first-ever Test series win.
Labuschagne showers praise on Jasprit Bumrah
“Bumrah is someone who can consistently bowl over 140 clicks and also has the ability to angle the ball back in at the stumps,” PTI quoted Bumrah as saying. “If the conditions are suitable for him, he can swing the ball both ways and can, therefore, be a very lethal bowler for India, particularly in the Australian conditions.
Currently, he’s the best Indian bowler in all the 3-formats and he will certainly be asking a lot of questions to the Australian middle-order in the imminent series,” he added.
On the other hand, Marnush Labuschagne also praised Ishant Sharma. The consistent batter rated Ishant highly for making comebacks into the Test arena every time after recovering from his previous injuries.
He says, “Ishant has been very consistent in the last couple of years or so and will definitely be posing a great challenge in front of us.”
The charismatic middle-order batsman has played just the solitary rain-affected SCG Test-match against India in the 2018-19 series. He turned out to be the highest run-getter (1104 runs) in Tests in 2019 across all the Test-playing nations.
Additionally, he said, “People start making a note of your presence and your game once you start performing well on a consistent basis. Therefore, it becomes imperative for you to understand your own game and be one step ahead of others so that you can have the last-laugh most of the times.”
Having cemented his position in the Australian squad in the Test-match in such a short span of time, Marnus Labuschagne will certainly be roaring to get some runs under his belt in the upcoming series again India.
