Seeing his teammates play their trade in the IPL, Marnus Labuschagne has expressed his desire to play in the next season of the cash-rich league. The right-hander is now one of the established names in the Australian international cricket team. Almost having the mannerisms of Steve Smith, the right-hander has built his game around Smith and loves batting alongside him. He has also been very vocal in speaking about his admiration for the former Australian skipper.
Speaking to Cricbuzz, Marnus Labuschagne has expressed his desire to play in the IPL. Seeing the likes of Steve Smith, Glenn Maxwell and David Warner earn both money and fame from the T20 league, the youngster also wants to have a taste of it.

“I have been interested in the IPL for a long time, always following and how the teams are going. I really want to be involved in the IPL at some stage but I think the time will come when I’m ready for that opportunity. And I think you don’t need to always rush these things.”.
Marnus Labuschagne On His Career
He also agreed that his career has been fast-tracked in the last two years and his development process has been a rather quick one. Having made his international debut in 2018, Labuschange has quickly turned into one of the most dependable Australian batsmen across all formats. He also scored a crucial 47 in the first innings of the Pink-Ball Test against India in Adelaide.
“You know the way my career has developed in the last year has been quite substantial. It’s gone real quick. Probably a year and a half ago, I wouldn’t even be in contention for the IPL but now I would love to be over there,” Labuschagne said.
Labuschagne made his Test debut against Pakistan in 2018. However, it was against England in the Ashes that he made a name for himself. He came in as a concussion replacement for Steve Smith and never really looked back.
Labuschagne has since scored 1,459 runs in the longest format at an average of 63.43 including 4 hundreds. In 13 ODIs, he has 473 runs to his name at an average of 39.41 including a hundred.
