India started their year in grand fashion as the Men in Blue defeated neighbors Sri Lanka in 2nd T20 at Holkar Stadium in Indore.

India captain Virat Kohli won the toss and invited the islanders to bat first. Islanders started off well courtesy a good start by openers Danushka Gunathilka and Avishka Fernando.

Jasprit Bumrah who was making a comeback from injury did”t start off well as he conceded a boundary off the first delivery and was under the pump straight away.

Washington Sundar gave India their first breakthrough as Avishka Fernando mistimed one straight to Navdeep Saini.

The youngster Navdeep Saini bowled in the right areas ad took important wickets off Gunathilka and Rajapaksha to put the pressure on the visitors. Navdeep Saini returned with figures of 2/18 in his 4 overs.

Kuldeep Yadav was effective in the middle overs even though the chinaman was dispatched for some boundaries as he was the chief wrecker and was successful in taking the wickets of Kushal Parera and Avishka Fernando.

The real deal began in the 19th over when Shardul Thakur took 3 wickets in his over removing Dhananjaya DE Silva, Isuru Udana and Lasith Malinga.

Sri Lanka finished at 142/9 in their 20 overs.

Indian Openers KL Rahul and Shikhar Dhawan started off with a positive intent as Rahul was the aggressor in the partnership and Dhawan played a ore cautious role .

India lost their first wicket at the score of 71 when KL Rahul was out smart by Wanindu Hasaranga.

Hasaranga was then able to take the wicket of the struggling Shikhar Dhawan who scored 32 off 29 balls.

It was then the Indian Captain and the young bloke Shreyas Iyer who helped India the target of 143 with 15 balls to spare.

Indian Pacer Navdeep Saini was adjudged the Man of the Match as India won the game comfortably by 7 wickets in hand and 15 balls to spare.
