Karnataka outplayed Maharashtra by 9 wickets in the first semi-finals of Vijay Hazare Trophy tournament played at Feroz Shah Kotla Stadium, New Delhi. Maharashtra captain Rahul Tripathi won the toss and elected to bat, were bowled out for just 160. Mayank Agarwal continued his impressive run in this year’s Vijay Hazare Trophy scoring 81 runs. Karnataka won the match by 9 wickets.

Captain Rahul Tripathi and SS Mundhe steadied the innings scoring 47 runs off first 10 overs. Both of them added 57 runs for the second wicket. S Mundhe played cautiously and put up 36 runs for the third wicket with Ankit Bawne.

S Mundhe reached his half-century off 75 balls and was soon dismissed. After that Maharashtra lost wickets at regular intervals and were bowled out for 160 in 44.3 overs.

Chasing the target of 161, Karnataka openers Mayank Agarwal and Karun Nair started on an aggressive note scoring 55 runs in the first 10 overs. Agarwal continued his brilliant form in the Vijay Hazare Trophy 2017/18. He sets a new record by a batsman to score most runs in a Vijay Hazare Trophy season. Mayank reached his half-century off 59 balls and captain Karun Nair also completed his 50 off 68 balls.

Mayank Agarwal and Karun Nair added 155 runs for the first wicket. Karnataka won the match by 9 wickets with 117 balls to spare.

Maharashtra 160 in 44.3 overs ( SS Mundhe 50, NS Shaikh 42, Gowtham 3/26) by 9 wickets.

Karnataka will play the winners of Saurashtra and Andhra Pradesh in the finals on 27th at the same ground.
