Michael Klinger, the right-handed Australian batsmen has announced his retirement from first-class cricket at the end of ongoin Sheffield shield in the current domestic cricket season.

He has decided to commit himself completely to his family life and support them. Especially to his wife who is nursing & recovering from the breast cancer disease.

Klinger, 37, said he still hoped to play for the Perth Scorchers in next year’s Big Bash League and maybe in WA’s last Sheffield Shield match of the season, against South Australia in a fortnight.

But he will miss WA’s game against Queensland on Tuesday to be by his wife’s side and vowed to fill the supportive role she played as he became a star cricketer over the past two decades.

“It’s been inspirational to see the way she’s approached it,” Klinger, who was also a batsman with Victoria and South Australia, hopefully down the track the treatment will keep working and get her in a really good place. We’ve still got a fight in front of us but Cindy is going really well.” he quoted about his wife.

Klinger hopes to play more T20 cricket in his whatever playing days are left to financially keep supporting his life.

We wish his wife a speedy recovery from this treacherous disease. May Klinger fulfills all his endeavors.
