Former England captain Michael Vaughan has shared that Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) should retain their captain Kane Williamson before next year’s mega auction as he believes every T20 side needs a player like him as well.
While speaking at Cricbuzz Live, Michael Vaughan stated that he would never get rid of a player like him. He again added that apart from his skills as a batter, he brings his brilliant tactical inputs to the table too.
“I won’t get rid of Kane Williamson. I just think he offers so much. Even when he is not scoring runs, in and around the group he offers plenty with his mindset. He is a very very smart and clever captain. Of course in T20 cricket you need players who can smash it out of the ground, but I still think in every side, there is one position you need a Kane Williamson, players who can maneuver the ball. When the pitches start to deteriorate, you need a player like Kane Williamson,” Vaughan said in this regard.
However, Sunrisers Hyderabad has had a poor IPL campaign this year, where they are already out of the playoffs race. Although Williamson failed to do well with both as a batsman or captain this season, his contribution has been immense as well.
SRH should retain Rashid Khan for IPL 2022
Apart from Kane Williamson, experienced leg-spinner Rashid Khan is the other player of Sunrisers Hyderabad who will most likely to be retained by the franchise as well.
“He (Rashid Khan) is the No.1 pick, isn’t he? Out of all the T20 players, he is the guy that you want in your team because of what he can bowl in the middle period. He has bowled in the powerplay, and he has produced the goods. There are players that have their soul embedded in the franchise, and for Rashid Khan, it certainly is with Hyderabad,” Lisa Sthalekar said.
