Star all-rounder Glenn Maxwell has joined the Royal Challengers Bangalore camp a couple of days and has completed his quarantine. However, he will not be available for Tuesday’s clash against Rajasthan Royals at the Wankhede Stadium, confirmed head coach Mike Hesson.
Incidentally, as per Cricket Australia guidelines, no contracted Aussie player can participate in IPL 2022 before April 6. Hence, Glenn Maxwell will have to warm the benches despite being fit.
Mike Hesson also confirmed that Maxwell will be available from RCB’s next game onwards, which is against Mumbai Indians at the Maharashtra Cricket Association Stadium in Pune on April 9.
“It’s pretty clear that from Cricket Australia’s point of view, no contracted players are available before the 6th of April. So, regardless of the fact that he (Glenn Maxwell) has arrived here, he can’t play till 6th. We are well aware of that. He will be available for the game on 9th,” said Hesson in the video.

Meanwhile, Glenn Maxwell was instrumental in taking RCB to the playoffs last season. He scored consistently in the middle order alongside chipping in with his handy off-breaks. Eventually, he was retained by the Bangalore franchise ahead of the auction.
The absence of Glenn Maxwell gives Sherfane Rutherford another opportunity in the middle to stake a claim. The West Indian cricketer managed 28 runs in their last outing against Kolkata Knight Riders but is yet to take the tournament by storm.
RCB, who returned to winning ways against Kolkata, will look to continue the momentum against Rajasthan, who have made a superlative start to their campaign winning two games on the trot.
