Milestone Chase Begins For Team India In England

As India gears up for its much-anticipated Test series against England from June to August 2025, several key players are on the verge of achieving significant career milestones.

While the emotional void left by the retirements of Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli looms large, this series presents a golden opportunity for emerging and established stars to etch their names in history. Matches will be held across iconic English venues like Headingley, Edgbaston, Lord’s, The Oval, and Old Trafford.

Young Guns Eyeing Big Numbers

New Indian captain Shubman Gill is just 107 runs short of 2,000 Test runs. Despite a poor record in England so far — only 88 runs in six innings — Gill will be keen to reverse that trend. His contemporary, Yashasvi Jaiswal, is also nearing the 2,000-run milestone, needing 202 more runs.

He’s had a stellar run in recent times, including 712 runs in the last home series against England and a productive tour of Australia. Jaiswal is also 464 runs shy of reaching 3,000 international runs across formats. His aggressive style and past dominance over England’s bowling make him one to watch closely.

Veterans and Match-Winners Close to Milestones

KL Rahul, the most senior batter in the squad, is 435 runs away from completing 9,000 international runs. With recent form on his side — including a 116 and 51 in a practice match — he has the chance to cement his legacy with a strong series. Rishabh Pant, returning after a lukewarm IPL and Border-Gavaskar Trophy, needs just 52 more to reach 3,000 Test runs.

With six centuries and a fearless approach, especially effective overseas, Pant will look to lead the counter-attack against England’s bowling. Veteran all-rounder Ravindra Jadeja is on the brink of 7,000 international runs, needing 309 more. With previous success in English conditions, he remains a crucial part of the batting core in the post-Rohit-Kohli era.

Siraj’s Bowling Prowess and the Road Ahead

Fast bowler Mohammed Siraj is just 15 wickets away from the 200-wicket mark in international cricket. With 27 wickets in England already and consistent performances overseas, Siraj could well achieve this during the series.

The first Test kicks off at Leeds on June 20, setting the stage for a thrilling summer of cricket where multiple Indian stars could script memorable individual achievements.
