Mithali Raj has become the highest run-scorer in International women’s cricket across all three formats. Mithali surpassed England’s captain Charlotte Edwards to achieve this milestone. Indian skipper Mithali reached this fantabulous achievement in the dead rubber ODI encounter against England while chasing 220. Supreme batter Mithali reached this achievement with a boundary of Nat Sciver in 23rd over.

Mithali now holds the record of highest run-scoring batter in women’s international cricket surpassing Charlotte Edwards’s 10,273 runs tally. Mithali Raj scored an unbeaten 75 runs inning against England. The 38-year-old’s inning helped the team to win the first match in an inconsequential ODI match. England won the series by winning the first two matches of the event.

Captain Mithali Raj’s remarkable inning helped India to chase the 220-run target given by the team three lions. India won the match with 4 wickets in hand and with three balls remaining. Adding to it the match was affected by rain and it was reduced to the 47-over contest.

Meanwhile, after the victory against England, Mithali Raj stated that she wanted to stay in the crease and win the match for her team.

“I never gave up in the middle. It’s being in the middle because you can’t win the match sitting out in the dugout. I wanted to win the game for the team,” Mithali said at the post-match presentation ceremony.

Also, Mithali Raj was seen lauding the young talent in the team as all-rounder Sneh Rana played a cameo which helped India a lot.

“We just needed one good partnership to take us through. I knew I could manage the game in the middle overs, but when you have young players you have to guide them.

“I have enjoyed chasing and wanted to be there and win the game for the team, I picked the bowlers to attack and along the way guided Sneh Rana. It is always good to have an all-rounder in the side, she (Sneh) has been phenomenal for us throughout the series,” Mithali added.

With the ODIs done and dusted, both teams will look forward to facing each other in the three-match Twenty20 International series.
