Mohammad Kaif Bids Adieu To Competitive Cricket

Indian cricketer Mohammed Kaif announced his retirement from all formats of the game today. Kaif represented India in 13 tests and 125 ODI”s and was remembered for his effective knocks down the order. His stellar fielding efforts played a vital role in clinching several victories.

Retirement on a special day

It is to be noted that Kaif and Yuvraj”s 121 run partnership helped India to clinch the Natwest series in 2002. That specific match where India chased a record target of 326 at Lord”s is considered to be one of the finest moments in the history of Indian cricket.

The match was played on the same date 16 years ago and his retirement note said that he feels happy to make a call on this memorable day.

Kaif also led the young Indian Under 19 team to victory in the year 2000, which inturn helped him to cement a spot in the limited overs.

The 37-year-old Mohammad Kaif in his Twitter account thanked each and every one who groomed him to represent India at the senior level. He had a special mention for Sachin, Ganguly and coach John Wright and expressed gratitude for their guidance.

Mohammad Kaif also mentioned how cricket has changed his career right from his age of six. His letter took the audience on a journey and currently trending in the social media.

Mohammad Kaif scored over 3300 runs in international cricket with three centuries and twenty half centuries. In IPL, he represented three franchises Rajasthan, Kings XI Punjab and Royal Challengers Bangalore.

In 2017, Mohammad Kaif was roped into the Gujarat Lions camp as an assistant coach. Needless to say that his eye-catching reflexes on the field will be missed and it will be interesting if any franchise would like to grab him as a coach in domestic tournaments.
