Indian pacer Mohammed Shami didn’t hold back when he spoke his opinions during KL Rahul and Sanjiv Goenka’s passionate conversation after LSG’s defeat against SRH.

Not only did Sunrisers Hyderabad win the match by a commanding 10-wicket margin over Lucknow Super Giants, but following the game, LSG owner Sanjiv Goenka was observed yelling at skipper KL Rahul, appearing to be upset with the outcome.

In just 9.4 overs, SRH chased down the 166-run mark, creating a new IPL record for the fastest run chase (goal min. 100).

The exchange happened on the field, and KL Rahul‘s sorry-looking facial expressions gave the impression that Goenka was venting his frustration at the team’s terrible performance. The internet wasn’t too happy with what they saw.

India’s standout pacer, Mohammed Shami, who is presently recovering from an injury, also expressed his support for his teammate following the incident.

According to the seasoned speedster, Goenka breached Rahul’s respect, which was a shame.

“Players have respect, and you are a respectful person, too, as you are an owner. Many people are watching you and learning from you. If these things happen in front of cameras, ye sharam ki baat hai. It’s a matter of shame,” said Shami during an interaction.

“If you have to do that, there are many different ways. You could’ve done the same thing in the dressing room or the hotel. It wasn’t necessary to do it on the field. Aise reaction dekar laal qile pe jhanda toh gaada nahi hai aapne (It isn’t as if you hoisted a flag at Red Fort by doing this),” said Shami.

“He’s the captain, too, not a normal player. It’s a team game; if the plan isn’t successful, it isn’t a big thing. Anything is possible in the game. I understand there can be good or bad days, but every player has respect, and there’s a way to talk. This sends a very wrong message,” he added.

The Super Giants’ path to the playoffs has become a little more difficult with the loss to SRH; With six victories and equal losses, the team is currently sixth in the standings and will have a formidable opponent in the Chennai Super Kings and Delhi Capitals.
