Team India’s strike fast bowler Mohammed Shami has made startling claims revealing that he attempted suicide thrice in the wake of the tainted relationship with estranged wife Hasin Jahan. Shami recently opened up about the darkest phase of his life during an Instagram Live chat with India teammate Rohit Sharma.

Meanwhile, in early 2018, Mohammed Shami’s wife Hasin Jahan had accused him of domestic violence. Thus, the high court booked Shami and his brother for domestic violence under IPC Section 498A. Hasin Jahan also brought other several charges on the illustrious cricketer

Speaking on the difficult period, Shami revealed that he went through a mental trauma during that period. He also highlighted the importance of his family during those periods which helped him to come out of that phase. Mohammed Shami also revealed he had a guard with him all the time during that phase.

“I had to go through some personal issues, the media was giving very wide coverage to my personal problems, I think if my family had not supported me I would not have made it, I also thought of committing suicide thrice. Someone used to stay with me 24*7,” Mohammed Shami told Rohit on Instagram live.

“We were living on 24th floor. They (family) were scared I might jump from the balcony. It’s a big thing when you have the support of family. My parents asked me to focus on cricket to recover from that phase. My brother supported me a lot. My 2-3 friends used to stay with me for 24 hours. I might have done something to myself if these people were not there with me,” he added.

Since then, Mohammed Shami has been in spectacular form since then leading India’s pace attack and playing a key role during their first-ever victory in Australia. The fast bowler from Bengal also played a key role during the ICC World Cup despite bowling out in the semifinals and finished as the second overall highest wicket-taker in 2019.
