Yuzvendra Chahal‘s move from Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) to Rajasthan Royals (RR) remains puzzling to some, with reported tensions between the two. RCB didn’t retain Chahal after the 2021 season, and he went on to claim the Purple Cap in his first season with Rajasthan in 2022.
However, Chahal’s international career has seen a decline since leaving RCB. The three-time finalists also struggled recently and had a forgettable IPL mini-auction last month.
RCB faced the challenge of reconstructing their entire bowling lineup following the release of Harshal Patel, Wanindu Hasaranga, and Josh Hazlewood. Adding to the difficulty, they were constrained by a tight budget after acquiring Cameron Green from Mumbai Indians (MI) in an off-season trade.
RCB spent ₹11.50 crore on Alzarri Joseph and secured Lockie Ferguson at his base price in the latter part of the auction.
For their spin attack, RCB relies on Karn Sharma and Mayank Dagar as key options. They acquired Dagar through a trade with SunRisers Hyderabad (SRH), parting ways with Shahbaz Ahmed.
Chahal has been featured in various gaming streams, playing the popular online game Battlegrounds Mobile India (BGMI). In a recent gaming session, one of his teammates inquired about RCB’s revamped bowling lineup after the auction.
In response to the question, the bowler had a brief yet cutting reply, simply stating ‘Moye moye.’ This term, derived from a Serbian song, has been widely employed in recent online memes, indicating that something is in a lamentable condition.

Chahal has claimed 48 wickets in the previous two IPL campaigns
Ex-RCB coaches Mike Hesson and Sanjay Bangar justified the decision to release Yuzvendra Chahal after the 2021 season, but the statistics contradict their arguments.
Wanindu Hasaranga, who took over from Chahal, had a successful 2022 season but faced challenges in 2023 due to injury and struggled to adapt to the conditions at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium. Chahal was among the select spinners who excelled in bowling at the notoriously batsman-friendly venue.
Rajasthan Royals have kept Yuzvendra Chahal for the 2024 IPL, following two seasons in which he secured 48 wickets. He also had a successful Vijay Hazare Trophy run with Haryana, contributing to their title win.
