MS Dhoni fans have found a new reason to smile after IPL Governing Council chairman Brijesh Patel confirmed the dates of IPL 2020. The veteran wicket-keeper batsman will lead Chennai Super Kings in the 13th edition of the IPL in the UAE.

Meanwhile, Dhoni has been on a sabbatic ever since India lost to New Zealand in the semifinals of the World Cup. A lot of speculation has been going around on his retirement, but MS Dhoni has kept mum.

MS Dhoni can still make a comeback – Dean Jones

He returned to training a month ahead of the original commencement date of IPL 2020. However, Dhoni had to return home after the Government of India imposed a complete lockdown countrywide due to COVID-19. Since then, he has been in Ranchi; his hometown and enjoying time with his family.

Many believe that MS Dhoni has played his last game for India. But there is a section who feels there is still scope for the former India skipper to make a return and former Australia cricketer Dean Jones is one of the few.

“At the moment it looks like the Indian selectors are going with Rishabh Pant and KL Rahul. If Dhoni has a wonderful IPL then he’s away, but if he doesn’t do well in the next IPL then perhaps his door is definitely shut.

But, he’s left the door open. This break might be fantastic for him. He has had a really good break and if he wants to come back out of this – trust me as you get older it gets more difficult to come back from a break,” Jones told Timesofindia.com.

While the selectors look at Rishabh Pant and KL Rahul as the options, Dean Jones feels MS Dhoni is still the best option. He also opined that the 39-year-old is still the best finisher and India are far away from finding a replacement.

The fans will once again get to see their favourite star grace the field when IPL gets underway from September 19.
