Former Indian skipper MS Dhoni has started preparing for the 2025 Indian Premier League (IPL) season. Retained by the Chennai Super Kings (CSK) for ₹4 crore under the uncapped player category, Dhoni is gearing up for another campaign with the franchise.
A CSK fan club shared a picture on Instagram showing Dhoni practicing in the nets, fully equipped with his helmet, pads, gloves, and other gear, signaling the start of his batting practice for the season.
Although Dhoni stepped down as CSK captain before the 2024 season, with Ruturaj Gaikwad taking over leadership duties, the 43-year-old remains a vital part of the team and is set to feature in the 2025 edition.

Although the wicket-keeper batter is seen practicing with the bat in the nets, the location of his training remains undisclosed.

MS Dhoni is a legendary figure in the Indian Premier League and one of its most successful captains, having guided the Chennai Super Kings (CSK) to five IPL titles. As a batter, Dhoni ranks among the league’s top performers.
Over 264 matches, he has batted in 229 innings, scoring 5243 runs at an impressive average of 39.12 and a strike rate of 137.53. His highest score of 84* is accompanied by 24 half-centuries, solidifying his place as one of the IPL’s finest contributors.
In IPL 2024, MS Dhoni batted in 11 of the 14 matches played by CSK, scoring 161 runs at an average of 53.66 and an exceptional strike rate of 220.54. While he didn’t register a half-century, his highest score of the season was an unbeaten 37.
Dhoni’s last standout season in terms of run-scoring came in 2019, where he amassed 416 runs in 12 innings at a remarkable average of 83.20 and a strike rate of 134.62, including three half-centuries.
