Chennai Super Kings skipper MS Dhoni is one of the most decorated players to feature in the Indian Premier League (IPL). The 39-year-old wicket-keeper batsman became the most capped cricketer when he came out to lead Chennai against Sunrisers Hyderabad at the Dubai International Cricket Stadium.

So far, Dhoni has represented only two franchises in the cash-rich league. MS Dhoni had to play for now-defunct Rising Pune Supergiant in 2016 and 2017 when BCCI suspended Chennai Super Kings for corruption charges. With Suresh Raina pulling himself out of IPL 2020, it was only a matter of time, Dhoni will go past him as the most capped player.

The Chennai skipper became the most capped IPL player with 194 matches when he came out on the field against Sunrisers Hyderabad. Raina sits seconds in the list with 193 games while Rohit Sharma (192) and Dinesh Karthik (185) occupy the third and the fourth place.

MS Dhoni will hope to make this match memorable with a win. Meanwhile, Chennai Super Kings will be desperate to secure a win after strangling at the bottom of the points table. They have only one win from three matches and Chennai have not looked their usual self.

Meanwhile, Suresh Raina took to social media platform Twitter to congratulate MS Dhoni on this incredible feat. The southpaw said that he is incredibly happy the Dhoni broke his record. He also congratulated Chennai Super Kings for this game and is hopeful that they will win the title this season.

There have been media speculations about Suresh Riana’s relationship with MS Dhoni. While the debate continues to rife, this tweet should put everything to rest.

“Congratulations Mahi bhai (@msdhoni) at becoming the most capped IPL player. Happiest that my record is being broken by you. All the best for the game today and am sure @ChennaiIPL will win this season’s @IPL,” Suresh Raina tweeted.
