A lot has been spoken over the retirement of the former India skipper MS Dhoni. He has been on a sabbatical since India’s ouster from the ICC World Cup 2019 in England losing to New Zealand in the rain-marred semifinal clash.

He was anticipated to make a return during the forthcoming Indian Premier League (IPL). In a bid to make a strong return, MS Dhoni began training on March 2 at the MA Chidambaram Stadium alongside the likes of Suresh Raina, Piyush Chawla, and Murali Vijay. However, the tournament was postponed until April 14 in the wake of the outbreak of the coronavirus pandemic which was scheduled to commence from March 29.

The 38-year-old wicket-keeper batsman looked in sublime touch during the training session entertaining the thousands of fans who turned up every day for the practice sessions. While the future of IPL 2020 looks in deep water, Piyush Chawla recalled that MS Dhoni was focused and also showcased match-like intensity during the net sessions.

“Mahi Bhai was absolutely focused, training purposefully and was looking really good. He was showing match-like intensity in the way he was batting and keeping and that was rubbing off on the others,” official website of CSK quoted the spinner as saying.

Meanwhile, it was anticipated that MS Dhoni will return to the national side with the ICC T20 World Cup 2020 lined-up later this year on the back on IPL 2020. And now with doubts over the future of the cash-rich league, it is uncertain whether he will again be seen in the India jersey.
