There isn’t a better story than MS Dhoni and Chennai Super Kings. Everyone knows his heart lies with the yellow jersey team. Such that the CEO of Chennai Super Kings franchise Kasi Viswanathan feels that in 10 years time Dhoni will be deemed as the CSK boss.
Meanwhile, MS Dhoni has been attached to the Chennai franchise since the first season. This also makes people wonder if he’d take up an administration role post-retirement with the team. He could well follow the path of his predecessor Sourav Ganguly who went on to become the BCCI president.
MS Dhoni will be CSK boss
The CSK CEO recently appeared on Star Sports 1 Tamil show ‘Dhoni Vazhi Thani Vazhi’.where he said the following,
“In 10 years from now, my feeling is that he will be a permanent fixture in Chennai as the Chennai Super Kings boss,”
MS Dhoni has captained the franchise ever since the inaugural season of the IPL. Kasi Viswanathan, who is a close ally of former ICC president N Srinivasan revealed why Dhoni is called Thala in Chennai and how the name is now associated with the captain.
“Only one thing I knew was that he’s able to get the best out of the team by himself. He’s able to get the best out of any member of the team. That’s why we’d call him Thala,” Viswanathan said.
Kasi Viswanathan was appointed as CSK’s new CEO in 2018 after the franchise was suspended for corruption charges. The team then made a fantastic comeback by winning the 2018 IPL, the first under Kasi’s tenure as CEO.
Meanwhile, despite all the talks of Dhoni’s retirement, Chennai fans are eagerly waiting for their Thala to return back in the yellow jersey at the MA Chidambaram stadium and lift another trophy.
Due to the outbreak of COVID-19 pandemic, BCCI had to postpone IPL scheduled to commence from March 29. But they are keen to host the competition in September-October with UAE frontrunner to host the event.
