MS Dhoni Working Tirelessly To Make A Comeback, Claims His Friend

With the forthcoming edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL) postponed until April 15 amid the outbreak of COVID-19, the return of the former India skipper MS Dhoni has been delayed. But reports suggest that the legendary cricketer has decided to hang his boots and will reveal to the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) at the right time.

Meanwhile, Dhoni went on a sabbatical after India’s ouster from the ICC World Cup 2019 losing to New Zealand in the semifinals. While the entire country has been debating about his return and subsequent retirement, MS Dhoni has remained mum and has enjoyed the holiday taking part in various activities.

However, he returned to training in the first week of March, to gear up for the 13th edition of IPL. He was joined by the likes of Suresh Raina, Piyush Chawla, and Murali Vijay at the MA Chidambaram Stadium, where thousands turned out to see their favourite star train.

But MS Dhoni had to return after Chennai Super Kings called off their training due to the rise in COVID-19. And with no signs of improvements, BCCI is pondering to cancel the cash-rich league. If that happens, the 38-year-old cricketer from Jharkhand will find it difficult to prove his mettle and comeback in the India squad.

Reports are going around that the legendary cricketer has made up his mind to bid farewell to the game. But one of MS Dhoni’s friend, who featured in his biopic has revealed that the veteran is training hard to make a comeback.

“Mahi gets angry when we ask him questions on his retirement. He still feels he is the fittest of all and quickest wicket-keeper in India,” revealed Dhoni’s friend to ABP who wished anonymity.

“He [Dhoni] has worked even harder in the last few months before everything stopped. I haven’t seen him doing agility training so intensely ever. He knows he is not getting younger and perhaps that is why training even harder to keep himself fit.”

“He has proved everyone wrong when no one backed him. Now there are millions of fans to back him. So he will take his chances for sure,” he added.

Meanwhile, it will be interesting how things shape up in the coming days. But with COVID-19 outbreak, MS Dhoni will have to wait longer to make the long-awaited return.
