MS Dhoni’s Old Tweet Goes Viral After Spain Beat Croatia

Spain knocked out the 2018 FIFA World Cup runners-up Croatia from the ongoing UEFA European Football Championship with a 3-5 win in their Round of 16 clash at Parken Stadium in Denmark on Monday.

Spain vs Croatia encounter was an exciting thriller. However, it was former Team India skipper Mahendra Singh Dhoni’s old tweet that stood out the most.

Interestingly, nine years ago exactly on June 28, 2012, MS Dhoni took to Twitter to say:

“Spain deserve to win this game but anyways now its lottery football, one who holds the nerve better will win. time for goalkeepers to b hero.”

MS Dhoni tweeted this after the semi-final clash between Portugal and Spain, which Spain won by 4-2 in penalties after both sides failed to break the deadlock at the regulation time and extra time. Spain eventually won the 2012 UEFA European Football Championship.

Very soon MD Dhoni’s tweet got viral on social media.


Spain and Switzerland are through to the quarterfinals in the 2020 UEFA European Football Championship. Switzerland beat France, the 2018 World Cup champions, in the second game of the day. They overcame a two-goal deficit late in the second half and then beat France, 5-4, in penalties.

Today in the Round of 16 clash of EURO 2020, England will play against Germany in London and Sweden will face Ukraine at Glasgow.

MS Dhoni will be seen in action during the second phase of IPL 2021

The second phase of the Indian Premier League is all set to resume from September 19. MS Dhoni will be again seen in action donning the Chennai Super Kings’ (CSK) leadership hat. CSK lost their against MI in the last IPL match, before the tournament was suspended.

They are currently placed at second position in the points table. The MS Dhoni-led side has five wins in seven games and a healthy Net run rate of +1.263.
