MSK Prasad has his say on the latest comments from Sunil Gavaskar

A few days ago, former Indian cricketer, Sunil Gavaskar took a jibe at the BCCI selection committee. He termed them as “lame ducks” and this certainly became a hit topic among cricket enthusiasts. The chief selector MSK Prasad responded on these comments to an interview in PTI.

He said that such comments were unfortunate to hear from a legendary cricketer. However, he also added that statements like that make them stronger and feel united.

It is to be noted that the Indian selection committee comprises of five people including MSK Prasad. There has been a lot of criticism on their selections in recent times. Most of the fans questioned that how come a group of people with limited International experience can select squads for a national side?

He also ruled out such comments that playing Internationals don”t determine the eligibility for the position.

“If one is talking about stature and international experience, Ed Smith, who is the current chairman for England and Wales Cricket Board has played only one Test. Trevor Hohns, who is the chairman of Cricket Australia”s selection committee for over a decade and a half with a couple of years break in between, has played only seven Tests”, said MSK Prasad.

MSK Prasad is also proud that the panel has given its best till now. He said that the committee has found a lot of deserving talents and given them a chance to represent the “A” side. Additionally, he also explained how the Indian side achieved several feats across formats after the selections.

The selection committee has included as many as five young players for the all-format tour. Inclusion of Shreyas Iyer, Navdeep Saini, and Khaleel Ahmed have delighted the enthusiastic Indian fans.

The series will begin from August 3rd, this week. It will be interesting to see how the youngsters perform and cement their spots in the side for future schedules.
