Shardul Thakur is still under the scanner for training outside amid coronavirus pandemic which has landed him in trouble. The fast bowler who is a contracted BCCI player was recently training out in Palghar District. It seems that the fast bowler will have to bear the penalty for not obeying the rules of BCCI. As per the new lockdown rules, that were imposed by the government recently, players were allowed to train at the stadium.
The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) however has not revealed anything about when the training of contracted players will begin outside behind closed doors. The Mumbai player has received a grade C contract by the BCCI. For one season, Thakur earns INR 1 crore as he is contracted by the apex body.
MCA to question Shardul Thakur
Various reports suggest that the MCA is not happy with Thakur resuming his training outside. Maharashtra is not in the red zone, but still, the BCCI hasn’t allowed anyone to resume their training outside. According to reports, strict actions can be taken against the India international and three other players that trained outdoors.
The state of Maharashtra has so far seen cases of COVID-19 above 60,000. As a result, MCA is keen on questioning Shardul Thakur for training outside even during this situation in the state. The pacer has so far represented India in 1 Test, 11 ODIs, and 15 T20Is.
As of now, the first and foremost priority of the BCCI is to create a safe environment for all its players. Bio-secure environment for the players is necessary so that they can resume training in the stadiums again. The Indian players will need a month or two to get back into the groove of things before playing any professional match. There are also rumours that IPL could also be played during or after September this year.
