The Mumbai Indians are gearing up for the much-awaited 2023 Indian Premier League season. They will kick off the season on Sunday, April 2 in the second game of the doubleheader against the Royal Challengers Bangalore in an away game at the M. Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru.
The Rohit Sharma-led team had a disastrous 2022 Indian Premier League season. They finished at the bottom of the table with just four wins from fourteen matches. Heading into the 2023 season, the five-time Indian Premier League champions will be determined to turn the tables. They will rely on the likes of Rohit Sharma, Ishan Kishan, and Suryakumar Yadav to lead the batting attack. They are likely to form the top order of the line-up.
Meanwhile, Tilak Varma will be a player to watch out for the Mumbai Indians this season. He slammed two half-centuries last season, putting up an impressive show. Tim David, Cameron Green, and Ramandeep Singh are likely to be the three all-rounders in the starting XI. Youngster Hrithik Shokeen, who put up a good show last year is likely to start the tournament along with Kumar Kartikeya.
Jofra Archer’s inclusion to boost Mumbai Indians
Pacer Jofra Archer will join the Mumbai Indians for the upcoming 2023 Indian Premier League season. He missed out last year due to an injury and is raring to do well for the franchise. However, on one end Archer’s inclusion will boost the team, Bumrah’s absence will be a significant loss. Jhye Richardson has also been ruled out of the tournament. In their absence, Archer and Jason Behrendorff are likely to be the two lead pacers.
Mumbai Indians’ probable starting XI for the 2023 Indian Premier League season: Rohit Sharma (C), Ishan Kishan, Suryakumar Yadav, Tilak Varma, Tim David, Cameron Green, Ramandeep Singh, Jofra Archer, Hrithik Shokeen, Jason Behrendorff, Kumar Kartikeya
