Mustafizur Rahman Set To Lose IPL Salary Of Rs 9.2 Crore As Compensation Unlikely: Report
Mustafizur Rahman

The pacer from Bangladesh, Mustafizur Rahman, is hardly going to get any monetary amount as a reimbursement after the full release of the player, issued by the BCCI, even though he was not involved in the case that caused the termination of his contract. KKR had won Mustafizur for Rs 9.20 crore in the IPL auction, thus beating the competitive bids from Chennai Super Kings and Delhi Capitals. The Indian Board, however, did not give any details about the particular reasons for the decision and simply referred to “the developments all around” as the justification for the extraordinary action.

Mustafizur’s release opens up a major scenario within IPL, as the pacer was looked upon as the key entrant into KKR’s bowling system. The BCCI’s decision- the lack of transparency- has raised doubts over the conditions under which his contract ended. Mustafizur is not only not going to get any compensation, but also the very reason behind it will remain obscure; therefore, he is going to have a difficult time figuring out the consequences of this unexpected release from one of the most successful franchises in the league.

Paceman Mustafizur Rahman from Bangladesh is probably not going to get any monetary compensation after his release by Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) as per the BCCI’s directive. He was not involved in any way in the events that caused his contract to be terminated.

The decision has led to a discussion about the player’s rights, particularly because he did not choose to withdraw from the contest and was not charged with any offense at all; the insiders report that the present insurance structure offers meager compensation at best.

“The salaries of all IPL players are insured. For foreign international players, normally the franchise pays if he is injured after joining the camp or during the course of the tournament. Normally up to 50 percent is paid from insurance. It is better for India’s injured centrally contracted cricketers, who normally get paid by the BCCI,” an IPL source

At the moment, Mustafizur seems to be wasting the whole value he has as a high-value player and the fact that there is no disciplinary or professional infringement against him, thus highlighting the shortcomings of player protection in cases where politics and administration rather than sport come into play.
