Bangladesh pacer Mustafizur Rahman will be given a No Objection Certificate Certificate to play in IPL 2021, Bangladesh Cricket Board Chairman Akram Khan confirmed on Friday, January 19. He along with Shakib AL Hasan will be given a NOC by the board. While Shakib was roped in by Kolkata Knight Riders for the next IPL season, Rajasthan Royals went behind Rahman and secured him for the next season.

Will Give NOC If Mustafizur Rahman Applies For It: BCB

“We will surely give NOC to Mustafizur if he applies for it. We have given NOC to Shakib and it will be the same for Mustafizur,” Akram told the reporters on Friday. The board decided that whoever will ask NOC, we will give because it is useless to insist someone who is not willing to play,” he said. Earlier, BCB had denied Mustafizur a NOC to play in the IPL.

Earlier former Bangladesh skipper Shakib Al Hasan was also promised to be given the NOC for his availability in IPL 2021. As per an ESPNCricinfo report, the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) has given leave to Shakib during next month’s Test series against Sri Lanka so he can take part in the upcoming IPL season.

“Shakib wants to play T20s at the moment,” Khan told Prothom Alo. “He doesn’t want to play Tests. He has asked for a leave for the IPL. We also don’t want to force someone who doesn’t want to play Tests, which is why the board has decided to grant him the leave”, said BCB cricket operations head Akram Khan.

This suggests that Shakib Al Hasan is keen to perform at his best for KKR and help them win their third IPL title. The all-rounder was ecstatic to join KKR again as he was part of both their side who won IPL titles in 2012 and 2014.

Meanwhile, Bangladesh was supposed to play a Test series against Sri Lanka but it had to be postponed due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Now the series is being planned in April to keep up with the ICC’s extended World Test Championship (WTC) deadline.
