“My Biggest Achievement” – Yuzvendra Chahal Opines On His Selection For The 2024 T20 World Cup

Yuzvendra Chahal, the skilled leg spinner from Team India, has made a comeback to the T20I squad for the upcoming 2024 T20 World Cup. In response to his selection, Chahal highlighted that representing his country and being a part of the national team remains his greatest accomplishment in cricket.

Speaking before the Rajasthan Royals’ IPL 2024 match against Sunrisers Hyderabad on Thursday, May 2, he stated:

“I think for the World Cup (you can congratulate me on that first). We play domestic cricket and the IPL only to come into the Indian team. That is my biggest achievement.”

The 2024 T20 World Cup is scheduled to take place in the West Indies and the United States of America. Notably, Chahal’s last T20I appearance occurred during India’s five-match series against West Indies on their home turf. The 33-year-old noted that although he hasn’t been a consistent member of India’s white-ball teams recently, he has participated in numerous matches in the domestic circuit.

He further stated: “I played there (West Indies and USA) last July. When I was not with the Indian team, I played T20s and One-Day matches in domestic cricket. So, the cricket kept going on.”

Yuzvendra Chahal has showcased excellent form in the current IPL 2024 season. As Rajasthan’s top wicket-taker, he has taken 13 wickets in nine matches.

“It will be quite challenging here” -Yuzvendra Chahal on facing the Sunrisers Hyderabad batsmen

Yuzvendra Chahal acknowledged that facing the formidable batting lineup of SRH would pose a challenge for him. However, he expressed confidence, noting that he is accustomed to the batting-friendly conditions of the M. Chinnaswamy Stadium and is no longer daunted by the prospect of being hit.

In the pre-match interview discussing the SRH vs RR clash, Chahal remarked:

“SRH have been playing quite well. All the batters, from the top to the No. 7, have done well. It will be quite challenging here. I have played around 45 matches at M. Chinnaswamy Stadium, so there’s no fear now. I believe that a good ball will be a good ball, irrespective of who is the batter.”

Under the leadership of Sanju Samson, RR has emerged victorious in eight of their initial nine matches and currently holds the top position in the IPL 2024 points standings.
