The mainstay of Indian batting, Rohit Sharma is known for scoring daddy hundreds. The elegant right-handed batsman does not stop after a century in ODIs. He struck his maiden 200 against Australia in a series decider in Bengaluru. Since then, Rohit has grown as a batsman and made a habit of converting hundreds into double hundreds.

The 33-year-old currently has 3 ODI double centuries, including 264 which is the highest score ever made by a batsman. Rohit Sharma recently did an Instagram Live session with teammate Ravichandran Ashwin. When Ashwin asked Rohit about his double centuries, the India opener told him that he never thought about scoring double centuries in ODIs.

Rohit told Ashwin, “Honestly I never thought I will slam double century in ODIs, but it just happened. The day that track was good for batting and the shorter boundaries at Chinnaswamy aided me as well.”

“I remember there was a rain interruption for some 30 odd minutes when me and Shikhar were batting. He was dismissed in the second over when play resumed again. Soon after Virat was run-out due to a mix-up, I still don’t know whose fault it was. After that, I knew I had to stay till the end to post a big total because it was a very high scoring series and no total was safe in that series”.

Meanwhile, Rohit Sharma, in that match, became third India after Sachin Tendulkar and Virender Sehwag to score a double century in ODI Cricket. He also shared a crucial partnership in the end with then skipper of India MS Dhoni. Rohit also added how Dhoni helped him during that innings and how he constructed his innings.

“I remember when MS (Dhoni) joined me, he in his own way advised me to not play any rash shot and get out. Since I was the set batsman he wanted me to, bat as deep as possible without taking too much risk. But soon I realised, I was timing the ball well and that I can attack any bowler so I went on the offensive,” Rohit signed off.
