New Zealand opening batsman Rob Nicol announced retirement from all formats of the game. He represented the national side in 2 tests, 22 ODI”s and 21 T20Is respectively.
Rob scored over 941 runs in the Internationals that includes a couple of centuries in ODI”s. He is only the second Kiwi to score a century on debut after Martin Guptill.
The 35-year-old also played for his home side Auckland in the domestic tournaments across the country. He moved to Canterbury post-2010 and had better seasons with them. His stats in List A career have an upper hand over the first class figures as he amassed over 4700 runs clinching 96 wickets.
He is also a medium bowler as he picked 10 scalps in the ODI”s. He took his Twitter handle to make the announcement where he displayed the caps of all the sides he represented and mentioned: “Finished”. He played both the tests against the safaris but the numbers don”t really speak much.
It is to be noted that the NZ coach Mike Hesson resigned yesterday and this news is really a bolt from the blue.

He had a little stint with the county side Gloucester shire in the year 2012.
