India”s limited over vice captain Rohit Sharma has accepted that the New Zealand tour wouldn”t be an easy tour for India. Sharma also said he is ready for the challenge and is all set for the tour to New Zealand.
The last time India toured New Zealand, India lost the test series 1-0 and also lost the One day series by 4-0 and tied one game in Auckland courtesy a great innings by MS Dhoni, Ravichandran Ashwin and Ravindra Jadeja.
The Indian Opener who was at his best in 2019 would like to continue his form in the coming year as he would like to go big this year and help the Indian Cricket Team win the World T20 and would also help the Indian team retain the Border-Gavaskar Trophy.
Rohit Sharma had a fantastic 2019 as the Mumbai lad won IPL for the 4th time as Captain and he continued his good form in the World Cup as well where he scored 5 centuries in the World Cup and was also the highest run scorer in the tournament.
Rohit also opened the innings for India in test cricket and didn”t disappoint anybody as he scored centuries in both innings in Vizag and followed it with a double century in Ranchi.
Rohit Sharma is aware of the fact that the Indian team will be facing a fierce bowling attack in Tim Southee, Neil Wagner, Matt Henry, Lockie Ferguson and Trent Boult.
“New Zealand is not the easiest place to play cricket. Last time, we lost the Test series (0-1) but we gave a good fight. But this bowling attack of ours is completely different from what we had back then,”
He also admitted the fact that it will be necessary for the team or any batsman to see of the first few overs in-order to score big in a test match.
“Facing the new ball in any conditions is not that easy. Of course, it’s a lot tougher outside India. But then, we played three Test matches against South Africa and I have never seen the ball swing so much in India like it did in Pune (second Test). But I know what to expect as I have been there the last time (2014 series in New Zealand). Not the easiest of conditions but I will be ready for that challenge,” he added.
