Newly-elected Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) chairman Ramiz Raja has opened up on India-Pakistan bilateral ties, saying that it is impossible right now. On September 13 (Monday), the former Pakistan skipper was elected as the chairman of PCB unopposed after the post was vacant in the wake of Ehsan Mani stepping down.

Ramiz Raja addressed the media and talked about the cricketing system in the country soon after taking over the role. Speaking on a bilateral series against India, Ramiz said that the chances of the series happening are impossible for now.

“Impossible right now…because the sporting model has been spoiled by politics and right now it is a status quo and we are not in a hurry on this issue because we have to focus on our domestic and local cricket,” Ramiz said.

Meanwhile, this is the second time Ramiz Raja has joined PCB as an administrator. The former Pakistan captain was with PCB when Sourav Ganguly-led India toured Pakistan for a full-fledged series in 2004.

The last time Pakistan toured India for a bilateral series was in 2012/13. The two-match T20I series ended in a draw with both teams winning a fixture each. Pakistan won the ODI series 2-1.

India-Pakistan to lock horns in ICC T20 World Cup

Meanwhile, the arch-rivals will lock horns with each other in the group stages of the ICC T20 World Cup, scheduled to take place on October 24 in Dubai. Fans are already excited about the clash and the buzz is on an all-time high.

Recently, former Pakistan all-rounder Azhar Mahmood believes that Men in Greens can easily beat India in the global T20 meet. peaking to Cricket Pakistan, Azhar Mahmood said:

“We lost the league match to India in the Champions Trophy (2017) but came back to beat them in the final. Then, in the 2019 World Cup, we lost. Our record against India in the World Cup has not been great. But this match (2021 T20 World Cup) will be tough because our boys play very well in the T20 format.”
