Nitish Rana And Dhruv Shorey Request NOCs From DDCA To Change Domestic Teams – Reports

The predicament within Delhi cricket persists as two highly skilled batsmen, Nitish Rana and Dhruv Shorey, aim to transition to different domestic teams.

They have formally asked the Delhi and District Cricket Association (DDCA) for a No Objection Certificate (NOC), which is necessary for their move prior to the forthcoming domestic season.

Rana and Shorey have voiced their dissatisfaction with the direction their careers are heading due to Delhi’s recent struggles in domestic cricket.

There was significant unrest behind the scenes not too long ago, involving issues such as changes in captaincy, team selections (even in junior levels), and numerous other matters.

In the 2022-23 Ranji Trophy season, Delhi secured the sixth position in the Elite B Group. Rana’s participation was inconsistent throughout the campaign, and he eventually chose not to be part of the team’s match against Hyderabad.

A source familiar with the situation informed CricketNext:

“Nitish Rana was exploring options after the last season ended. He wasn’t happy with the way he was dropped midway through last season and was on the lookout. He returned for the game against Mumbai and then made himself unavailable for the game against Hyderabad.”

Dhruv Shorey, who has played for the Chennai Super Kings in the IPL, is also evaluating his choices due to dissatisfaction with his chances in white-ball cricket while representing Delhi.

Shorey was recently spotted participating in the Duleep Trophy, where he managed to score a century against the North East Zone team.

“With regards to Dhruv, he was a red-ball asset for Delhi but wasn’t happy with opportunities in shorter formats. He still wants to play white ball cricket,” the source added.

Similar to Rana’s situation in the realm of red-ball cricket, Shorey has experienced inconsistency in terms of team selection for limited-overs matches such as the Vijay Hazare Trophy and the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy.

Rana and Shorey have been named in Delhi’s lineup for the forthcoming Buchi Babu tournament

Both players are part of Delhi’s lineup for the Buchi Babu tournament organized by the Tamil Nadu Cricket Association (TNCA). The competition returns after a six-year break, featuring 12 teams in the four-day red-ball format.

Rana and Shorey are considered senior members and leaders in the team. Their appeal for NOCs just a day before the team’s departure for Tamil Nadu raises concerns.

The event is set to occur between August 15 and September 11. Delhi is placed in Group C alongside Mumbai and Jammu & Kashmir.
