Nitish Rana notched up his third score of 80 or more in the last six innings that he has opened up for the Kolkata Knight Riders. His 80 was instrumental in taking KKR to 187/6 at the end of their 20 overs. They beat Sunrisers by 10 runs to make a winning start to their IPL 2021 campaign. They next play their nemesis Mumbai Indians on Wednesday.

Meanwhile, after the game, in an interaction with Harbhajan Singh, Nitish Rana opened up on his unique celebration that he made after he scored yet another half-century in the IPL. He said that the celebration was about a popular Punjabi song Brown Munde which he and his friends enjoy listening to. Both Bhajji and Nitish sang the popular Punjabi song, ‘Brown Munde’, to entertain their fans and the video was shared by IPL’s official Twitter handle. It has already garnered over 1,600 likes.

Nitish Rana-Harbhajan Singh Tune Into ‘Brown Munde’

Ahead of KKR’s opening game, Nitish Rana had tested COVID positive after which he was kept in isolation. Thus, his ability to bounce back after the setback speaks volumes of his calibre and temperament. At the post-match presentation, he stated, “I thought the ball was in my slot so I went for it and luckily got four off my first ball. In my mind there’s only one thing: play my shots if the ball is there. Just backed myself.”

Nitish Rana scored 80 off 56 deliveries and added key partnerships first with Shubman Gill (15) and then with Rahul Tripathi (53). Dinesh Karthik scored 22 off 9 in the final overs as KKR reached a more than competitive 187/6. Andre Russell scored five on his comeback game for KKR and fell yet again to Rashid Khan. Skipper Eoin Morgan scored (2), while Shakib scored 3. It was Rana’s third score of 80 or above in his last six innings for Kolkata. He was rightly awarded the Man of The Match for his matchwinning knock.
