For the fifth successive season, Sunrisers Hyderabad have made it to the playoffs of the IPL and still, no one talks about them capable of winning the tournament. SRH skipper David Warner lamented this thought of people while talking about their preparations for the second qualifier against Delhi Capitals.

SRH beat Royal Challengers Bangalore in the eliminator to get themselves a place in the second qualifier. The winner of this game will face Mumbai Indians in the IPL 2020 final on November 10 in Dubai.

For Us, There is No Pressure – David Warner

Talking to ESPNcricinfo about his preparations, Warner said that there is no pressure for them ahead of the big game as no one talks about SRH winning the tournament. David Warner stated that they have enjoyed the underdog tag as they played with no pressure throughout IPL 2020.

“And so far we have been flying under the radar, it’s funny because no one talks about us at the beginning of the tournament, about making the finals and winning the IPL. For us, there is no pressure” said Warner.

SRH skipper David Warner further spoke about the players in the team knowing their responsibility and why they are playing this tournament. The Aussie superstar spoke how they take small steps and prepare in leading to the competition.

“We are all in a team and we are here for a reason and that is to win. We take small steps, the big prize is obviously the trophy but you have to take small steps to get there. For us it’s about each individual knowing their role, and executing their role to the best of their ability. There are a lot of teams on paper who might look and set up better than what our structure is. But we can only control what we do,” David Warner added.

SRH have been playing knockout cricket for at least two weeks in the tournament heading into the second qualifier. They have won their last four games including the eliminator to give themselves a chance to win a second IPL trophy.

David Warner has scored 546 runs at an average of 42 and a strike rate of 135 with 4 half-centuries so far. He will be the main man for Sunrisers who will be taking on the Delhi Capitals in the second qualifier tonight in Abu Dhabi.
