Indian women cricket team defeated Sri Lanka women team by five wickets in the second T20I match of the ongoing T20I series between both the teams. With this win, Indian team has made a 2-0 lead in the three-match T20I series. Smriti Mandhana top scored for India in 2nd T20I.

Left-handed opener Smriti Mandhana played a brilliant knock of 39 runs in 34 balls while chasing the target of 126 on a tricky pitch. Smriti enjoys a massive fan following across the cricketing world. There were several crazy fans of Smriti in Sri Lanka too who came to watch Mandhana in action during 2nd T20I.

Some Sri Lankan fans came with interesting banners to show their love for Smriti. One fan carried a banner in which he wrote, “NO PETROL, but still came to see Smriti Mandhana”. He also drew two hearts on his poster.

While one fan came up with a poster in which he wrote, “Here only for Beauty and beast SM 18″.

 

Captain Harmanpreet Kaur won the Player of the Match award for her all round performance. Harmanpreet said, “Happy to win the game and the series. It was not an easy track to bat on. The way we managed was good. We batted according to the plan. It is important to stay calm and read the situation better. I am happy we were able to execute our plans.”

Sri Lankan captain Chamari Athapaththu won the toss and elected to bat first. The openers gave a great start to them. They added 87 runs partnership for the first wicket. However, the middle and lower order of the hosts failed under pressure. Sri Lanka managed to score just 125 runs in 20 overs.

In the post match presentation, Chamari Athapaththu said, “We batted well but the last six overs we did not do well. We were 15 runs short, Harman and Smiriti batted well. I hope the players will do well next game. I will try my best to play well in the next game.”
