“Not Just A Cricketer, He’s An Emotion” – Sompal Kami Shares Heartwarming Moment With Star India Player After The 2023 Asia Cup Match Between India And Nepal

Nepal’s fast bowler Sompal Kami had an encounter with India’s star batsman Virat Kohli after the Asia Cup 2023 match between the two teams at the Pallekele International Cricket Stadium on Monday.

Following the match, Kami took to Instagram, where he posted a picture proudly displaying the shoe bearing Kohli’s autograph. Additionally, the 27-year-old commented on how the former Indian captain is much more than just a cricketer.

In the post’s caption, Sompal Kami wrote:

“Virat Kohli is not just a cricketer, he’s an emotion”

It’s worth mentioning that Virat Kohli didn’t have the opportunity to bat against Nepal, as the Indian team successfully chased down the adjusted target of 145 runs within 23 overs, resulting in a 10-wicket win through the DLS method.

However, in the team’s first match of the Asia Cup against Pakistan on Saturday, he had a disappointing performance, managing just four runs before being dismissed by Shaheen Afridi.

India secures Super Four berth with convincing win against Nepal in Asia Cup 2023

The match against Nepal held significant importance for Rohit Sharma and his team because the victor would progress to the Asia Cup’s Super Four stage.

India’s match against Pakistan ended prematurely due to rain after the first innings, resulting in both teams earning one point each.

Having won the toss in the crucial game, India chose to bowl first. Aasif Sheikh emerged as Nepal’s top scorer with a 58-run innings, while Sompal Kami also played a valuable role with 48 runs towards the end.

Nepal was eventually dismissed for 230 runs, with Mohammed Siraj and Ravindra Jadeja each taking three wickets. However, due to rain, the target was adjusted to 145 using the DLS method following a weather interruption.

Opening batsmen Rohit Sharma (74*) and Shubman Gill (67*) were the standout performers, guiding the team to a spot in the Super Four. In the upcoming Super Four match of the 2023 Asia Cup, India will face their arch-rivals Pakistan at Colombo’s R.Premadasa Stadium on Sunday.
