India’s T20I captain Suryakumar Yadav has dismissed suggestions that he is struggling with form despite a prolonged run of low scores in the shortest format. Following India’s seven-wicket win over South Africa in the third T20I, Suryakumar addressed concerns surrounding his batting, making it clear that confidence remains intact.
Although he scored 12 runs off 11 balls, adding to a series of modest contributions, the Indian skipper insisted that lack of runs does not automatically translate to poor form. He confidently stated that he feels good about his batting and believes the runs will come naturally when the time is right.
Confidence in Preparation and Process
Suryakumar emphasized the importance of preparation and trusting the process rather than overthinking outcomes. He revealed that he has been batting well during practice sessions and is satisfied with his timing and shot selection.
According to him, cricket is a game where momentum can shift quickly, and a single innings can change perceptions overnight. Reflecting on his lean patch, he remarked, “Not out of form, definitely out of runs. When the runs have to come, they’ll come.” His comments underline a calm mindset and strong belief in his abilities, qualities that have defined his rise as one of India’s most dynamic T20 batters.
Team Effort and Bounce-Back Victory
Suryakumar also highlighted India’s collective effort in bouncing back after the defeat in the second T20I. He credited the team’s discussions and planning for the improved performance, particularly praising the bowlers for executing their plans effectively in conditions that offered assistance.
The disciplined bowling effort played a key role in restricting South Africa, allowing India’s batters to chase the target comfortably. South African captain Aiden Markram acknowledged India’s bowling accuracy, noting that consistent lengths and smart variations made scoring difficult.
For Suryakumar, the win was less about individual performances and more about learning from setbacks and responding positively as a unit. He stressed that maintaining balance, clarity, and confidence is crucial as the team continues to build momentum in the series.
