Although the tweet’s context was unclear, several Twitter users asserted that it was a response to the abuse that Uthappa had to endure after saying that if given the chance, CSK would be the IPL team he would want to play for.

The fans of other teams where he played did not appear to like the statement.

“I will not be taking part in the IPL as I have already announced my retirement from Indian cricket. He declared on Jio Cinema, “If I could play again, CSK man, hands down!”.
