“Once I Am Done, I Will Be Gone” -Virat Kohli Shares Insights Into His Plans After Retiring

Indian cricket team and Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) batsman, Virat Kohli, has revealed his post-retirement intentions in a humorous video. At 35 years old, Kohli stated that he intends to take a break from the spotlight after retiring to avoid any potential regrets.

Kohli has become the mainstay of India’s batting in all formats and has been a major match-winner for them over the past decade. The ex-Indian skipper has played a crucial role in advocating for cricket’s inclusion in the Olympics and has garnered widespread respect for his fair play.

In a video shared by RCB, Kohli expressed his determination not to have any loose ends in his cricket career and intends to dedicate himself fully to the remaining time he has in international cricket.

“I think as a sportsman, we do have an end-date to our careers. So I am just working backwards. I don’t want to finish my career thinking ‘oh, what if I have done this on that particular day’ because I can’t keep going on and on forever.”

“So it’s just about not leaving any undone business behind and not have any regrets later, which I am sure I won’t. Once I am done, I will be gone, you won’t see me for a while (smiles). So I want to give it everything I have till the time I play, and that’s the only thing that keeps me going.”

Considering the experienced cricketer’s level of fitness, it’s reasonable to support the notion that he could compete in at least two formats for the next three years.

Virat Kohli currently holds the Orange Cap in IPL 2024

Currently, Kohli stands as the top run-scorer in IPL 2024, having amassed an impressive total of 661 runs from 13 innings, boasting an outstanding average of 66.10, with one century to his name. However, his strike rate has faced scrutiny on several occasions throughout this season.

In their pursuit to secure a spot in the playoffs, the Royal Challengers are persisting with their late surge. They aim to bolster their chances by triumphing over the Chennai Super Kings in their upcoming fixture scheduled for Saturday, May 18th.
