Only two Indian’s in Daniel Vettori’s all-time playing XI

Former New Zealand skipper Daniel Vettori has made Virat Kohli the captain of his All Time Cricketing XI ahead of Ricky Ponting. Ponting was one of the most successful captains in the history of the game leading Australia to 2 world cup wins.

Daniel Vettori and Virat Kohli know each other very well. They have spent a lot of time together at RCB. Vettori joined RCB in 2011 and captained them in 2 seasons when Virat played under him. Thereafter in 2013 when Virat became RCB”s skipper, Vettori took over coaching of RCB.

Vettori has got Rahul Dravid and Ricky Ponting to open the innings. Then at No.3, he has got skipper Virat Kohli. At 4 he has modern-day master AB de Villiers. At 5 he has God of Cricket Sachin Tendulkar followed by 2 wicketkeepers Sangakkara and Adam Gilchrist.

When a World XI is picked there is always a debate about who should be the spinner, Warne or Murali. Vettori has picked both of them. His frontline seamers are Glenn McGrath and Sir Richard Hadlee with no other seam bowling option. It is interesting that Vettori has made everyone out of their positions.

Veteran cricketers like Kallis, Lara, Richards, Wasim Akram don”t form a part of Vettori”s all-time XI. Word is you can”t have all of them at the end of the day though. Surprisingly he has included only one fellow countryman i.e. Sir Richard Hadlee. There are 4 Australians, 3 Indians, 2 Sri Lankans, 1 Protea and 1 Kiwi.
