The unpredictability of the Pakistan team has been a one to watch out for in this World Cup. When they were bundled for a paltry 105 by the West Indies side, they made a great comeback against the hosts England defeating them despite twin centuries from Jos Buttler and Joe Root. The side is all set to face Sri Lanka today and an “Asian” affair is on the cards.
The high intense clash between India and Pakistan is all set to be played on June 16th. Reports from Mumbai Mirror suggest that a specific proposal was sent to the Pakistani Prime Minister Imran Khan to allow Pakistani side sport the military caps for the game against India just like the one India did it against Australia at Ranchi earlier this year. The Indian side wore one of its kind as a tribute to martyrs in Pulwama attack after seeking necessary permission from the ICC.
However, ICC has made it clear that it did not receive any request from the Pakistani Cricket Board for sporting special type of caps for the game against India. It is to be noted that this would be the first time the two sides are facing post-Pulwama attack and there were a lot of objections from a lot of cricket legends and boards that the teams shouldn”t play a game in the World Cup.
The latest message from Imran Khan”s office is that he has sent a special message to the Pakistani team to concentrate only on the game but not the politics that is happening behind.
One of the officials from his office has reportedly said that “Prime Minister Imran Khan has clearly conveyed to the players that they should enjoy the game and should not indulge in an overt show of political diplomacy or aggression. He is clear that sport should not blend with politics at any cost, hence there will not be like anything that Indian team did recently”.
Which Pakistan side will India face on June 16th? The fiery one? Or the one that surrendered to the bouncers and short balls from the West Indies bowlers? Can India maintain their record against Pakistan in the World Cup matches? A series of questions are set to be answered in a few days from now.
