Pakistan leg spinner Yasir Shah has been included for MCC against the newly test playing nation in an historic match against Afghanistan on 11th July 2017. This match would be a fifty over match which would take place at Lords, London.

Yasir Shah made his test debut against Australia in 2014 and since then he has played 26 test matches taking 149 wickets with best figures of 7/76 during an innings. His performance for Kent in the county season has been impressive. The leg spinner joins his former Pakistan test captain Misbah- UL- Haq for MCC. Shah has also played 17 ODI matches and 2 T20 matches for Pakistan.

“Yasir joins the MCC team as the final piece in the jigsaw for this match and we are delighted he is able to play in this historic fixture,” said MCC head of cricket John Stephenson in a club statement.

“With Afghanistan having recently been awarded Test match status, it is fitting that they will make their Lord’s debut in this match and we hope that many of their UK-based supporters are able to see them in action,” the former England batsman added.

The captain for the MCC team will be former New Zealand Brendon McCullum who led the Kiwis team to finals of World Cup 2015 held in Australia and New Zealand. It will have also great cricketers like Kumar Sangakkara of Sri Lanka, Shivnarine Chanderpaul of West Indies. Samit Patel and Chris Read are the other names from England.

Chris Read and Samit Patel were part of the Notts squad which won the Royal London ODI domestic tournaments. It will be an historic match for Afghanistan side to play at Lords who recently were awarded test status by ICC.

As far Afghanistan is concerned, Mohammad Nabi and Rashid Khan who played in VIVO IPL 10 will feature in the squad. Both the Afghan players were purchased by SRH franchise. It promises to be an exciting match with top players coming together.

This is a big chance for Afghanistan cricketers to showcase their talent to the world as they will be playing at Lords, London for the first time. Yasir Shah played a key role in helping Pakistan to reach number 1 test team.
