Pakistan pacer Haris Rauf has been ruled out of the remaining two Test matches against visiting England side due to an injury. It is a major blow for the Pakistan team as they struggled with their bowling with 4 debutants in their squad.

Haris Rauf was one of the four debutants for Pakistan in the opening Test match played at Rawalpindi. He grabbed his maiden Test wicket shattering the stumps of Zak Crawley. Zak Crawley and Ben Duckett added record 233 runs for the opening wicket.

Rauf was taken for runs by the England batters. He went for 78 runs in his 13 overs with only one wicket at an economy of 6 runs per over. He did not feature after the first day due to a quadricep strain after Pakistan Cricket Board confirmed.

Rauf batted with pain in both innings but could not save Pakistan from 74 runs loss against an aggressive Ben Stokes-led side.

Pakistan has been dealt a major blow in the Test series as Shaheen Shah Afridi was ruled out of the series due to an injury that he received during the T20 World Cup finals.

“The scans and the subsequent assessment by the PCB medical staff concluded that the fast bowler suffered a grade-II strain,” a statement from PCB said.

England lead the Test series 1-0

Pakistan will be going to Multan with a 0-1 trail in 3 match Test series. The second Test match will start on December 9.

England played an aggressive brand of cricket posting 657 runs in the first innings after electing to bat first. Despite Imam, Shafique, and Babar Azam’s centuries, visitors took 78 runs lead. It was another explosive batting display by England batters as they declared their innings on 264 for 7 at 7.36 runs per over setting the target of 343 runs.

Thanks to Ollie Robinson and James Anderson’s brilliant spell on the final day, England won in the last session as Leach dismissed Naseem Shah to win their third Test match on Pakistan soil.

Pakistan would be hoping for a much better performance in the second Test match to be played at Multan from December 9, while the third Test match would be played at National Stadium, Karachi on December 17, 2022.
