The Arun Jaitley Stadium in New Delhi is packed to capacity as Virat Kohli returns to domestic cricket for the Ranji Trophy 2024-25 match between Delhi and Railways. On the first day (Thursday, January 30), paramilitary forces were stationed for Kohli’s security.
With the Delhi and District Cricket Association (DDCA) offering free entry, a huge crowd gathered both inside and outside the stadium to watch Kohli play. Ahead of the match, a two-kilometer-long queue formed outside the stadium starting at 3 am IST, with fans eagerly awaiting his appearance.
One fan even breached security and ran onto the field to touch Kohli’s feet, prompting security to swiftly remove the individual. After the security breach and the large crowd, security measures have been heightened. Paramilitary forces were deployed to ensure Virat Kohli’s safety.

Fan Disrupts Security to Enter Field and Touch Virat Kohli’s Feet
Virat Kohli’s popularity appears unmatched, as seen by the enormous crowd that turned out to watch him play. On the opening day of the match, while Delhi was fielding, a fan bypassed security and ran onto the pitch to approach Kohli.
The fan sprinted toward the 36-year-old cricket star, who was stationed in the slip cordon, and bent down to touch his feet. However, security quickly responded and escorted the fan off the field.
As the fan was being escorted off, Kohli kindly instructed security not to harm the individual and to simply remove him from the field. Meanwhile, Delhi has reduced Railways to 87/5 after 27 overs (at the time of writing).
