PBKS Might Speak To BCCI About Josh Inglis’ Availability After The IPL 2026 Auction Incident
Josh Inglis

Punjab Kings are thinking about making a move to the Board of Control for Cricket in India after the recent changes regarding Josh Inglis, who was supposed to be in the IPL 2026. The team decided to let go of the Australian wicketkeeper-batter before the auction, as he had already told the team about his unavailability for the entire Indian Premier League season. Inglis attributed his unavailability during the IPL period to his major personal commitments, which made it hard for PBKS to choose to release the promising batsman.

Inglis had earlier notified the squad that his wedding was going to be on April 18 and that he would take an extended honeymoon right after the wedding. The Australian player even offered to take part in the competition that would last only 10 to 14 days, and only after the wedding festivities were over.

This huge unavailability problem was a difficulty for the team, and eventually, PBKS decided to take a different route and look for another wicketkeeper to replace him in their IPL 2026 squad.

PBKS believes Inglis’ availability was miscommunicated:

PBKS may approach BCCI over Josh Inglis availability after IPL 2026 auction twist

Before the auction, the BCCI had informed all teams that Josh Inglis would only play in four matches in the IPL 2026 season. However, the Lucknow Super Giants managed to sign him for INR 8.6 crores after a fierce bidding war with Sunrisers Hyderabad during the mini-auction in Abu Dhabi.

This, however, has caused a lot of trouble with the Punjab Kings who think there was a big misunderstanding about the actual period of Inglis’ availability. New signs have now come that the Australian batsman might be playing for a much longer time in the tournament, which is opposite to the earlier four-match limitation given to the franchises.

New reports have come out that Inglis is already thinking about changing his honeymoon plans and looking into the possibility of the IPL right after his wedding covered. Lucknow Super Giants’ head coach Justin Langer is already having talks with the player regarding this new arrangement.

Inglis was nothing short of miraculous in IPL 2025; he scored 278 runs in 11 matches with a stunning average of 30.88 and strike rate of 162.6 which not only helped PBKS to get so far but also made him a very important player during the entire tournament by his contributions.
