PCB Chief Najam Sethi Gives A Shocking Statement For Inclusion Of Pakistan In World Cup

With less than four months until the 2023 ODI World Cup, Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) chief Najam Sethi stated that the team has not yet decided whether or not to travel to India for the event later this year.

According to Sethi, the PCB has informed the ICC that the government will make the final decision regarding the team’s participation in the competition. The announcement coincides with the BCCI and ICC’s ongoing delay in releasing the World Cup schedule.

The change occurs a few weeks after Sethi threatened “tit for tat” if India didn’t travel to Pakistan to play. Sethi recently stated at a press conference:.

I have no response for that. We informed the ICC in writing that we were unable to endorse or condemn travel to India. Similar to how it is for India, this decision is made by our government. We’ll decide later if we’ll play in Ahmedabad. “

He went on to say: “We informed the ICC that we could at any time inform you whether or not we will play or where we can play, subject to these conditions. ”

Pakistan’s participation in the 2023 ODI World Cup has been criticized by PCB president Najam Sethi as being “premature to discuss.”

The delay in Pakistan’s decision to participate in the 2023 ODI World Cup was also explained by Najam Sethi. The former journalist who is now a cricket administrator claimed that Pakistan does not currently have a “stable” government.

It’s too soon to talk about anything. Which government will be in charge at the time is unknown. So far, nothing has been discussed. But when there is a strong government, the situation is different. “We’ll ask them when the time is right. ”

He then continued: “Discussions about the venues will begin if they give the green light. Kolkata, Chennai, and Ahmedabad. That is a topic for another conversation. The first decision is whether or not we’ll leave, though. I believe we should leave it at that since this is a matter for the government to decide. We’ll talk about it when the time is right.

Sethi provided the following explanation of how Pakistani Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif’s last-minute decision to send the Pakistani team to India for the 2016 T20 World Cup:.

You recall what transpired in 2016. India had not been visiting us, but we went there. Whether or not to go was a topic of discussion.

We spoke with the Prime Minister at the time, Nawaz Sharif, after those discussions, and he advised us to leave. ”

He continued “Then the security team traveled to India to inspect the stadiums; one match was moved from Dharamsala to Kolkata, so we went there and took part. “

A day after the Asian Cricket Council (ACC) gave its approval to the PCB’s hybrid strategy for the 2023 Asia Cup, the development took place.
