PepsiCo Signs Shafali Verma As Brand Ambassador

0

PepsiCo has roped in the swashbuckling opener of Indian National Cricket Team Shafali Verma as their brand ambassador. Meanwhile, Shafali has been in the headlines after her stellar show with the bat in the ongoing ICC Women's T20 World Cup 2020 in Australia.

The 16-year-old Verma has been making the right noise with her explosive batting in the ongoing ICC Women's T20 World Cup in Australia. India have made it to the finals of the competition without any hiccups solely banked on her aggressive batting at the top. Meanwhile, it was a complete washout in the semifinal against England and the Harmanpreet Kaur-led side progressed by virtue of finishing with more points.

So far, Shafali Verma has amassed 161 runs in four innings, including knocks of 47 and 46 against Sri Lanka and New Zealand. Her explosives in the middle of the park have earned her an expensive deal from PepsiCo. As per reports in the Economic Times, Shafali has been signed only for a year. However, the multinational is keen to extend the contract if she continues to deliver the goods with her bat.

“The deal is inexpensive since Verma has just begun her career. If she continues to perform, PepsiCo will look at renewing it and taking it forward,” the report quoted a PepsiCo insider as saying.

India keen to win the trophy

Meanwhile, Shafali Verma will now look to concentrate on Sunday title clash against six-times finalist Australia at the Melbourne Cricket Ground. She will look to continue her stellar run and help India bring home the trophy for the first time in the history of the tournament.

Shafali also looks in line to finish as the highest run-scorer as she currently sits fourth on the impressive top run-getters list behind England’s Nathalie Sciver (202), Heather Knight (193) and Australia’s Beth Mooney (181), but is ahead of all competition on strike-rate.
