Virat Kohli

The Indian cricketing star Virat Kohli is certainly a social media icon. Whenever he posts something, it goes viral in a minute. Kohli, who has more than 200 million Instagram and 48 million Twitter followers, recently (June 26) posted three photographs of himself, from the warm-up game against Leicestershire.

Two of these snaps were stills while batting, and the remaining one was from a training session. The 33-year-old, while posting the pictures wrote: “Thank you Leicester, Birmingham awaits”.

Meanwhile, the English photographer John Mallett, who clicked these pictures came up with a humble reaction and penned: “Hugely humbled that one of the world’s greatest players chose to use some of my images from the game with @leicsccc on his personal media accounts. A privilege to have been able to capture these shots. Thanks to VK & everyone @BCCI for your support.”

Mallett is a Norwich-based photographer and is an ardent sports enthusiast.

Kohli on Top after the Warm-up Clash

Besides, the warm-up game against Leicestershire was full of experiments for the Indians.

Kohli particularly seemed flexible with the bat, as the former Indian skipper managed to score a decent half-century in the second innings. Kohli scored 33 runs in the first innings and 67 in the second one.

Kohli will be taking the field against England for the one-off Test, at Edgbaston (Birmingham), starting from July 1. Currently, the Rohit Sharma-led side is leading the way in the series by 2-1.

Meanwhile, Rohit Sharma’s participation is under scrutiny and there are no official updates regarding the matter. Kohli’s childhood coach Rajkumar Sharma has recently stated that it’s unlikely that Kohli would be leading the side again.

Kohli, along with the Indian team, will play the white-ball fixtures including three T20 Internationals and as many One Day Internationals, from July 7 to July 17.
