After an eventful time with Kolkata Knight Riders in the Indian Premier League, spinner Piyush Chawla has shifted his base to Chennai. The veteran leg-spinner was the highest-paid cricketer in the IPL 2020 auction. Chawla seemed excited to reunite with the world’s best captain MS Dhoni.
Meanwhile, many felt that Chennai Super Kings have spent a staggering amount to rope in the cricketer from Uttar Pradesh. But CSK CEO had earlier admitted that they exactly knew what they were doing. He also hinted that the idea was to have Piyush Chawla on board.

Chawla also seemed excited to work with MS Dhoni again. He joins one of the strongest spin-attacks in the competition and will look to make a place for himself in the playing XI. He also admitted that upcoming IPL will be a thrilling experience considering the backing he has got from the skipper.
“If a captain is believing in you, what more do you want?” Chawla told Firstpost in an interview.

“Definitely (excited about the reunion with Dhoni). Koi bhi leg spinner ko chahiye ke unko accha captain mile (Any leg spinner would want a good captain). I am getting Dhoni bhai, world’s best captain, aur kya chahiye (what more do you want)?” he added.
Meanwhile, Piyush Chawla was an integral part of the Knight Riders for the last six seasons. He scalped 62 wickets from 70 matches. Speaking about the captaincy transition, Chawla opined Gautam Gambhir and MS Dhoni are not too different in their approach and there will be no difficulties to adjust.
“It’s always the same with Dhoni bhai as well. He gives freedom to the bowler, whatever you feel, go with it,” he said. “He is always helping you out. And when he feels, this kind of thing might happen, then he gives suggestions to the bowler that let’s do this.
Whenever he thought that the bowler would need something in the game, he would advise from behind the wickets. So that is a very big help,” the leg-spinner signed off.
